Here are three brand new books that’ll help make your kids happier, healthier and curious-er (is that a word?) Enjoy!

Children’s book offers simple tips for kids 4 – 8 years of age

Anxiety is a growing problem, and patients showing stress symptoms are getting younger.

Academic pressures, bullying and troubling news events can all impact children, resulting in emotional, mental or physical symptoms of anxiety. Witnessing the impact of stress on children first-hand, Dr. Amitha Kalaichandran was inspired to explore the interplay of the mind, body and spirit as it relates to children’s health.

Believing that education can help children better understand their feelings and their own ability to regulate their emotions, first-time author Dr. Kalaichandran wrote What’s Wrong with Sunny?, a beautifully-illustrated book that explores the topic of stress and offers simple, age-appropriate strategies to help young readers improve their self-regulation skills, as well as equip them with tools that they will be able to use throughout their lifetime.

Just in time for Back-to-School. What’s Wrong with Sunny? is available in hardcover, soft-copy and e-book and can be ordered online on Amazon.ca.

Get your kids excited about nature and national parks.

In honor of the 100th birthday of the U.S. National Park Service, award-winning author K.S. Brooks has created an activity book for children starring Mr. Pish.

In Mr. Pish’s National Park Centennial Celebration: A Mr. Pish All Ages Activity Book, the traveling terrier uses games, puzzles, and coloring pages to educate kids – and adults – about our national parks.

Mr. Pish, a Jack Russell Terrier, visited 41 U.S. states and seven provinces in Canada before his death in 2013 at the age of 16. FIDO Friendly Magazine named him one of the Top 50 Dogs in the World in 2011, due to his advocacy for outdoor learning and literacy.

Ms. Brooks said, “Some of the best times with Mr. Pish were spent exploring U.S. national parks. We created this book to help others discover the wonders of the parks and hopefully inspire them to make their own special memories there.”

Mr. Pish’s National Park Centennial Celebration is available at www.mrpish.com and at major online book retailers.

Get your kids to love healthy superfoods for life!

Happy Family today unveiled its first-ever cookbook, the Happy Family Organic Superfoods Cookbook for Baby & Toddler, by Founder and CEO, Shazi Visram, and with chef Cricket Azima, Founder and CEO of The Creative Kitchen. With more than 70 easy-to-prepare recipes made with nutritionally-rich ingredients, the Happy Family Organic Superfoods Cookbook offers a fresh, nutritious and accessible approach to feeding children from starting solids through to toddler years. The book celebrates the company’s Enlightened Nutrition Philosophy – that exposing children to a wide variety of nutritious foods early on helps lay the foundation of healthy eating habits throughout life.

“Every parent aspires to give the love, care and freshness of homemade food to their kids,” said Visram. “We want to support parents to cook delicious and nutritious recipes because when we find the time to cook together, really good things happen — we connect with the food we eat and each other to enjoy the simple moments that make life happy.” Happy Family’s mission is to support young families getting the best nutrition possible during the first 1,000 days of life, from pregnancy through toddler-hood, and our cookbook is helping achieve that mission.

The artfully designed cookbook offers flavorful, healthy recipes for babies and toddlers to support their best start in life, while making cooking fun and creative. Taste and preferences develop at a very early age that can last a lifetime, and it’s important to provide children with fresh, clean foods that are optimized with smart, age-specific ingredients from the very beginning.

The cookbook features over 70 recipes for babies and toddlers, including:

Recipes for babies (4–12 months):

  • Blackberry, Banana, Peach & Quinoa Puree
  • Salmon with Kale & Yogurt (Editor’s note: Beware of salmon allergies!)
  • Strawberry, Avocado & Beet Blend
  • Savory Rice Pudding with Papaya, White Beans & Spinach

Recipes for toddlers (1–3 years):
